International seminar «Competency-based selection and performance assessment in civil service» was held in Baku

On June 24-25, 2024, an international seminar «Competency-based selection and performance assessment in civil service» was held in Baku, organized by the State Examination Center of the Republic of Azerbaijan in collaboration with the Astana Civil Service Hub.

The seminar began with welcoming speeches from Maleyka Abbaszade, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the State Examination Center of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Alikhan Baimenov, Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Astana Civil Service Hub; and Darkhan Dzhazykbay, Chairman of the Agency for Civil Service Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Alikhan Baimenov noted that the quality of the state apparatus is significantly influenced by the selection process of civil servants. In the context of a new reality shaped by breakthrough technologies such as artificial intelligence, new competency requirements are being set for civil servants. It is crucial to take these into account during the selection process for public service.

The event was attended by heads of authorized public service bodies from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. Additionally, the event was attended by rectors of public administration academies. A total of 70 people participated in the seminar.
