Astana Regional Hub supports cross-regional anti-corruption initiatives

Anti-corruption initiatives for Europe, the CIS and Arab States were highlighted at a special session of the UN Office on South-South Cooperation in Dubai. They will be based on the exchange of information and know-how, joint activities, which will allow the governments of these countries to respond effectively to the factors and trends of corruption.

Mr. Alikhan Baimenov, Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Regional Hub of Civil Service in Astana, on behalf of the Hub expressed support for a new cross-regional initiatives, noting their importance for member countries in a strive to improve civil service.

In addition, the representatives of the Hub took part in the First Regional Cooperation Forum and round table on innovation in the field of public services delivery.

In his speech, Alikhan Baimenov stated "partnership and mutually beneficial international cooperation are among the key factors for the success and sustainability of any reform. Astana Regional Hub promotes voluntary and open exchange of knowledge and experience among member countries since its inception".

Within the framework of this event Mr. Alikhan Baimenov, Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Regional Hub of Civil Service in Astana met  with Mr. Jorge Chediek, Envoy of the Secretary‐General on South‐South Cooperation and Director, UNOSSC and Mr. Olivier Adam, Deputy Regional Director, UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS. UN officials recognized the contribution and leadership of Kazakhstan in the development of regional and cross-regional cooperation in the field of public services through the operation of Astana Regional Hub, which brings together 36 countries, including America, the EU, the CIS, the Caucasus and ASEAN.
